Leland Lazarus

Leland Lazarus is the Associate Director of National Security at FIU's Jack D. Gordon Institute of Public Policy. An expert on China-Latin America relations, he leads a research team on U.S. national security in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Lazarus has served as Special Assistant at U.S. Southern Command and a State Department Foreign Service Officer. He has extensive experience in public affairs and consular roles, is fluent in Mandarin and Spanish, and holds degrees from Brown University and the Fletcher School. His work is published in prominent media outlets, and he is a member of several prestigious programs and councils.
