Educational Program: How reporters can use the Hinrich-IMD Sustainable Trade Index 2022
Event Details
02 February 2023 | 9 AM (EST)
The Association of Foreign Press Correspondents in partnership with the Hinrich Foundation presents foreign correspondents an opportunity to engage with trade experts on the Sustainable Trade Index (STI) 2022 and understand its use for reporters. Join this webinar on 2 February 2023 to learn more about the STI.
Geopolitical tensions and the global economic slowdown have made economies more inward-looking. The sustainability of trade must remain a fundamental objective of the international community to ensure long-term economic growth and value creation. This year’s STI, developed jointly by the Hinrich Foundation and IMD’s World Competitiveness Center, examines the key factors affecting these trends.
The Hinrich-IMD Sustainable Trade Index 2022 measures how effectively 30 major trading economies are geared for long-term economic growth, environmental protection, and societal development across 70 indicators.
This educational program will provide foreign correspondents with the opportunity to learn about STI 2022 from its creators and trade experts. It will provide an overview of the STI and discuss its policy implications, along with its use as a reporting tool for journalists. STI is a tool that can highlight forward-looking issues such as the impact of modern-day slavery on supply chains among others. The program will also draw attention to some of the great visuals produced by the Visual Capitalist in their executive summary of the STI 2022 report, which can be excellent resources for trade reporting. Panelists are:
- Christos Cabolis, Chief Economist, IMD World Competitiveness Center
- Stephen Olson, Senior Research Fellow, Hinrich Foundation
