Advancing trade sustainability in a fragmenting world
Event Details
26 October 2023 | 4 PM (SGT) / 10 AM (CET)
The Hinrich Foundation will launch the fifth iteration of its Sustainable Trade Index (STI) with a webinar on 26 October. The index, developed in partnership with IMD World Competitiveness Center, measures the readiness and capacity of 30 economies to participate in the international trading system. Register here to join the official launch of the STI 2023.
The world is grappling with some of the toughest geopolitical and macroeconomic challenges in decades. Mulltilateral cooperation and the sustainability of trade are more important than ever. The global economy is going through an intense period of fragmentation.
We publish the index because we believe that trade is essential to economic growth, but economies need to manage the social and environmental fallout from unsustainable trade practices to retain support for trade in their communities. The Hinrich-IMD STI seeks to analyze the factors that affect the sustainability of trade in a rapidly shifting international order. The index measures the readiness and capacity of a country to participate in the international trading system in a manner that supports the long-term domestic and global goals of economic growth, social capital development, and environmental protection.
The index provides a key resource for regulators, businesses, and communities to shape policies that integrate trade with the prosperity and sustainability of economies.
Join us in launching the STI 2023 on 26 October for a deeper understanding of the key factors and global trends affecting the sustainability of international trade, this year’s findings, and their policy implications. Speakers include:
- Kathryn Dioth, Chief Executive Officer, Hinrich Foundation
- Christos Cabolis, Chief Economist and Head of Operations, IMD World Competitiveness Center
- Stephen Olson, Senior Research Fellow, Hinrich Foundation
This event, which includes a Q&A session, will be moderated by Chuin Wei Yap, Program Director of International Trade Research at the Hinrich Foundation.
