The FDI report 2018: Global greenfield investment trends

The FDI Report 2018 is an annual report published by Financial Times that provides global greenfield investment trends of the previous years, based on figures from fDi Markets data service.

Global greenfield FDI weakened with number of FDI projects declining by 1.1% to 13,200 in 2017. In addition, capital investment decreased 15.2% to $662.6 billion alongside a 9.4% decline in job creation to 1.83 million. The report noted that political uncertainty over global trade and Chinese policy on reimposition on overseas FDI, which curtailed FDI in certain targeted sectors, as the major factors contributing to the fall.
