Geopolitical tensions and the global economic slowdown in the recent past have changed the way economies interact with each other. Pandemic-induced supply chain disruptions, tariff wars, and other interruptions to trade have made economies more inward-looking in their bid to be self-sufficient. The sustainability of trade must remain a fundamental objective of the international community to ensure long-term economic growth and value creation.

The Hinrich-IMD STI seeks to analyze the factors that affect the sustainability of trade in a rapidly shifting international order. The index measures the readiness and capacity of a country to participate in the international trading system in a manner that supports the long-term domestic and global goals of economic growth, social capital, and environmental protection.

Join us in launching the STI 2022 on 9 November for a deeper understanding of the key factors and global trends affecting the sustainability of international trade, this year’s findings, and their policy implications. Speakers include:

Christos Cabolis, Chief Economist and Head of Operations, IMD World Competitiveness Center
Stephen Olson, Senior Research Fellow, Hinrich Foundation

This event, which includes a Q&A session, will be moderated by Chuin Wei Yap, Program Director, International Trade Program at the Hinrich Foundation.
