Scholar background

David's a marketing professional with over 10 years under his belt, thriving in both agencies and individual corporations. He joined Apple in 2018 and quickly rose to the challenge as Head of Strategy Marketing and Communication, leading the Greater China region. Now, he's a Senior Product Lead, wielding his expertise to oversee product and technical marketing initiatives for the iPhone business and tech in Greater China. David lent his skills and experience to help drive Apple's iPhone success story in this massive market.

But his journey to Apple wasn't a straight shot. Beforehand, he honed his strategic planning skills at leading marketing firms and tech startups across Taiwan and mainland China. Names like Wieden + Kennedy, Blinq, and TBWA\Worldwide dot his resume. He even flexed his brand development muscles for global giants like BMW, AB InBev, and Adidas.

David's holds a bachelor's degree in Journalism and Communications from Ming Chuan University, Taiwan. Plus, he recently earned an Executive Global Master's in Management from the London School of Economics, thanks to a Hinrich Global Trade Leader Scholarship.

Personal statement

Over the last ten years, I’ve been lucky enough to work alongside some of the world's best thinkers in the marketing and communication industry. As a marketing professional specializing in building demand for foreign consumer products in China, I understand that the success of my work helps maintain an open dialogue and exchange of trade between China, and the West, especially as it pertains to the entire global supply chain. Yet, I’ve realized that the more I experience in my career, the more there is to learn. This is the key aspiration motivating me to continue my studies at LSE. My ambition is to challenge and broaden my thinking to grow as an individual and a professional.

As a Hinrich Scholar, this opens up even more opportunities that align with my aspiration. I look forward to the opportunity to connect, learn and share new ideas with a broader range of thought leaders and professionals in the region. I’m excited to bring my academic learnings and professional experience as a marketing strategist in China to the larger Hinrich Foundation community. Together, I hope my contribution can help others build better global business practices for the region.
