Natural materials, nature-themed motifs on trend
As demand for more environment-friendly products continues to rise, suppliers of fashion accessories and jewelry in Vietnam are turning to natural materials such as seagrass, coconut shells, bamboo and rattan to for their various products.
The domestic availability of sustainable fibers works to the advantage of suppliers. Seagrass is sourced from the provinces Tien Giang and Thanh Hoa, and coconut shells can be obtained from Ben Tre. Rattan is sourced from Nghe An and Da Nang, while bamboo is procured from Hoa Binh and Thanh Hoa provinces.
Makers generally highlight the natural colors of the materials used. Designs incorporate floral prints and appliques, and other nature-themed elements.
“Suppliers are offering fashion accessories and jewelry made from natural materials and featuring nature-themed designs to support growing demand for such items, and this trend is seen to continue,” said Ly Nguyen, export consultant of the Hinrich Foundation.
